A Truly Slytherin Prize...

An owl swooped in yesterday with a fat little package for me. I was so excited when I saw it was from our Prefect, Megeara Black. Inside was the prize I won for the first Slytherin House Quiz. Check it out...

Inside was some beautiful yarn from Sunshine Yarns in the colorway Chinese Fireball Dragon. Oh it SO reminds me of Viktor Krum. I simply can't wait to start knitting it up. Along with that was a set of owl stitch markers from Crazy4Dyeing - SO cute - and a very Slytherin card. I love it all!! I was so excited.

In other news, I did get that detention with Snape. Two of them actually. *le sigh* About they only thing better than playing in the Snake Pit is detention with Snape!

I heard from Allitrya, my pal as well. She's working up some slinky Slytherin socks and had a question or two. I bet she is doing great. Did I mention this is her first pair of sock. I'm so excited to see how they turn out for her. It's a curse though...once you start knitting sock, you just can't stop!

Back to Class...

So, it was a great weekend! Got to get away from the castle for an extended R&R mission. I was able to visit with some family. Minee was there so there was someone to pick on!

Now...it's back to classes for me. I didn't finish my Potions homework on purpose. I love detention with Snape!

Weekend Pass...

I got a weekend pass to head off the grounds! I have no classes on Monday so I'll be back to the dorm on Monday night. Now...what mischeif can a 2nd year Slytherin get into in just a few days?

Nearly there...

I'm nearly finished with Allitrya's socks. I'm not going to post pics so I don't spoil anything for her, but I can't wait for her to get them. I hope she likes them!! I have plenty of other things to get to fill up her kit and there are 2 other items I plan to make for her as well, aside from her stitch markers. On my last trip to Hogsmeade I started collecting goodies for her package too. I hope she will feel completely spoiled when she gets the whole thing!

House Quiz #1

Our dear Prefect has posted some homework for us. I've been so busy with Potions that I'm thinking I better get it out of the way now before I fall into my cauldron and I miss doing it!

Name the ingredients in a Shrinking solution. Ingredients include: Chopped Daisy Roots, Skinned Shrivelfig, Sliced Caterpillar, One Rat Spleen, and a Dash of Leech Juice

What are the some side effects of an Euphoria Elixir and where would you find the brewing instructions for this elixir? Side effects include excessive singing and nose-tweaking. The brewing instructions can be found in Advanced Potion Making.

Name the ingredients to make Polyjuice Potion. The ingredients are: lacewing flies stewed for 21 days, leeches, powdered bicorn horn, knotgrass, fluxweed picked at full moon, shredded boomslang skin, and a bit of who one wants to turn into.

If you needed to think more clearly what potion would you use and what ingredients would you need? Use a wit-sharpening potion to think more clearly. You will need ground scarab beetle, cut up ginger root, and armadillo bile in order to brew it properly.

What is murlap essence and it's use? Murlap Essence is a solution of strained and pickled Murtlap tentacles. It is most useful in healing cuts and other wounds.

And Away We Go...

What a great week! I got my partner and have had some great communication with her already. Her name is Allitrya, she's a Gryffindor in her first year, and she is very nice. I've been enjoying getting to know her. As I settle into classes this term, I've decided to do a little extra Potions work on the side, and have put some bamboo sock yarn into the cauldron for Allitrya's socks.

I love the way it came out. It's self-striping and has a great sheen to it. I could hardly wait to knit it up so I started right away!!

A new term begins!

Yesterday was the last opportunity for students to apply, so a new term at Hogwarts is finally here! I am so excited to be back in the dungeons, and I simply can't wait to see Professor Snape! I wonder if there is any new staff this term. I guess we'll find out at the Start of Term Feast...

Owl's Away...Again!

Well I'm finally going to be able to send off the 2nd swap package I volunteered to take on. Clara Cloovenhoove's original partner dropped from the swap, leaving her without a partner, so I told the Headmistress I'd make her socks and get a package off to her. I really wanted to be able to get it out earlier than this, since the term ended a few weeks back, but I'm glad it's going out to her today, nonetheless. Clara is a Ravenclaw, who prefers the movie colors, so I created some striped Ravenclaw socks for her. Clara has much smaller feet than I do, so I am very worried that they will not fit her properly, but I'm crossing my fingers.

There's a young Wizard in Clara's house as well, so I added a few Hot Wheels, a Muggle car toy, to the package. I also put in extra candy so that they could both have some. I ordered some Kandy and Konfections from Kwikspell Konfections, and also added some Hershey's candy bars since there was a special request for those.

I hope she will enjoy the package. I had great fun putting it together for her. The owl has a very long way to travel, so it will be several days before it arrives. I do hope it will get there safely...

Seva Soars

I borrowed my cousin Minerva's owl, Seva, this afternoon to send out my Pal's swap package. Minee helped me fit Seva with a tracking collar so we can be sure she won't get lots. Minee also said that Seva is pretty nicely insured, which made me feel a lot better since I want to be sure that the package arrives in one piece!

I can't wait for Perenelle to get it. Seva doesn't have long to travel, so Perenelle might get her package already on Saturday. I'm crossing my fingers. It was so much fun filling it up! I hope she will love it.

Slytherin Anklets

The weather on the grounds has really started to warm up! But with Spring comes lots of rain, so I'm not out by the lake studying for my exams just yet. In anticipation of sitting out on the green lawn soaking up the warm sun, I decided to make myself some ankle socks. Socks, socks, socks!

These are green and silver, of course. I mean really...are there any other colors?

I'm SO Spoiled!!

Wow! I can hardly believe what the owl brought me today. I received my trunk for the trip home from Hogwarts this term from Perenelle Auckerley, Ravenclaw first year, and HSS3 Pal extraordinaire!!

I'm telling you, it is simply wonderful! I took lots of pictures so you can all see...

Here's my trunk. It arrived all safe and sound, and completely packed with the most wonderful goodies!

Look what I found when I opened it up!! Great treats for the train ride (just in case the trolley runs short), gorgeous yarns, my favorite needles, spectacular patterns, super smelling candles, a pair of socks I've been really wanting... Look...

Here are some great stitch markers and my brand new pair of Bellatrix!! Aren't they great? There's also the cutest little knitting bag which included the neatest little sock keychain, complete with yarn and a pattern to make tiny keychain socks for it! Can you just imagine how absolutely adorable that wooden sock is going to be all decked out in cute little socks?

More great ribbon yarn, and a pattern to make the golden snitch! It can hardly wait to start it...

And my beautiful new socks. They are absolutely gorgeous, the yarn is so soft, and they fit perfectly! You can bet I'll be sporting these lovely Bella's proudly.

Thank you so much Perenelle!! You really did spoil me rotten!! You're the best ;)

An Owl is Flying...

Oh it's so exciting! I received word from my HSS Pal that her owl is in the air and on it's way here. Isn't it so fun?

I am so close to putting the finishing touches on my package to be sent as well. I have a brutal round of homework to finish up over the next few days, but once I have that all cleared up, I'll have time to put the last finishing touches on the package and send my owl to my Pal.

This has really been a lot of fun!

It's Leap Year!

Happy Leap Year!!

So, the progres continues on my Ravenclaw pal's socks. They are turning out pretty nice. Well, sock #1 is at least. I really, REALLY hope I am able to avoid that dreaded second sock syndrome.

Best work on my best second sock spell...

Socks...Markers...Needles...Goodies

Alright! So, I've got the sock yarn in, and I'm ready to get rockin' on the socks for my Pal. I know just what I'm going to do. She's in Ravenclaw. I hope she will like them.

As for the stitch markers...I made some for her over the weekend. I actually made 2 sets, and can't decide which I like better. Eenie, meenie, mienee, moe... Better just send both sets.

I'll head out to Hogsmeade for the needles. She's got a favorite, so I'm going to be sure to get her what she likes. I know just the place to get them!

Now...for the goodies. Best stop at Honeyduke's while I'm in Hogsmeade!

Getting Settled...

Wow, what a start of term! I'm finally here, and getting settled in. As promised, Mum took me to Diagon Alley on Sunday to get all my supplies for school. She even let me stop by Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes for some mischief making supplies.

I also got my new wand. Mr. Ollivander told me all about it:

Wood type: olive
Length: 14 inches
Core: Phoenix Feather

get your own wand!

Olive wands tend to choose the witch or wizard who possess above average intelligence, not to mention often an overactive imagination. Olive wands are also a favorite of healers and are especially good not only for healing but also for protective spells. Many believe the bearers of Olive wands to be good at decision making - but this is not necessarily so. The owner of an olive wand may be decisive but that does not mean their decisions are the right ones. On the other side of the coin they may be so busy worrying about what is right that they are unable to ever reach a conclusion.

The Phoenix Feather comes from the tail feathers of a Phoenix, and is especially good with fire or defensive magic, as well as healing magic. This may be due largely to the healing properties Phoenixes have.

Owl Post

My letter from Hogwarts has arrived!! I'm so excited. I was only jus thinking about it, and in swoops a barn owl with a letter bearing the Hogwarts crest.

So, now that I have all the information I need, and Mum has promised to take me to Diagon Alley on Sunday for my supplies, it looks like I'm nearly ready for the new term. I wonder if I can talk her into taking me to Acromantula's Emporium...

Hoping for an Owl...

The new term starts next week, and I'm hoping upon hope to receive an owl with my letter from Hogwarts. Mum told me that if it comes, she will take me to Diagon Alley on Sunday for all my supplies. It's so exciting!

But the anticipation is murder...........
